Lakey Beach in Sumbawa Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province

Located near to the border between Sumbawa and Dompu Regency, a serene beach may astonish all tourists. The name is Lakey Beach and it resides in Jambu Village at Pajo Sub-District. Not only the beach is famous for the sea scenery, but it also becomes the right place to conduct surfing! Due to the popularity, in fact, outsiders and foreigners often come to the site to satisfy their surfing hobby. However, it seems unsuitable for beginners or those who can’t swim, though. Have no worries. These people can simply conduct beach walking and witness either the sunrise or sunset instead of surfing.

The Nuance
When it comes to nuance, Lakey Beach offers both peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The shoreline is exotic with its soft-textured sand and it comes with several trees too. Tourists can even find small huts there. Still, the best feature is none other than the big waves. The locals call it “Ombak Kidal”. Unlike others, the waves have the lefty sweep instead of the right one. No wonder, surfers come from other regions to get the new experience in surfing. What is more? The beach is also known for its strong wind!

Exploring Lakey Beach
The most recognized feature in Lakey Beach is none other than the Kidal Waves. No wonder, almost all visitors are likely to enjoy surfing during the visit. Have no worries. What about those who can’t surf? Well, they can simply sit on the shoreline and take photos of the waves. Even watching those great waves from afar is satisfying enough. Not to mention the nuance becomes merrier during holidays, as many surfers come to the beach. They come from both nearby villages and outside the regions!

Here is the fact. Due to the excellent waves, Lakey Beach is known among both local and foreign tourists. No wonder, the local government regularly conducts a surfing competition in that area. Everyone is allowed to participate, as long as they are qualified enough to compete. It can be either regular surfing or kite surfing, actually. Have no worries. During the event, tourists are allowed to watch and take photos.

For a more casual tourist activity, visitors should reach a viewing tower (which is located at the end of the beach). This spot is suitable for sightseeing and photography, without a doubt. One thing, the wind can be too strong. Thus, it is better to wear comfy attire when visiting the beach. Here is the trip. Tourists should visit the beach in the afternoon in order to see the romantic sunset! This soothing nuance is suitable for couples and those who look for a more peaceful vacation.
